SUPPORT IATSE-PAC

Over the years a lot of changes have taken place in the audio/video world.  Multimedia used to mean stacking nine to twelve 35mm slide projectors with dissolve units being run manually or maybe using a cassette tape. Now multimedia has changed into a much more complex environment. Using multiple 12’ x 16’ screens with high-powered digital light projectors stacked to each screen with multiple computers, an assortment of video decks and several cameras, all being routed and controlled by a hi-resolution graphics switcher. Now that’s multi-media!

In addition, 35mm hard mounted slides have been transformed into computer-generated digital slides, allowing much more flexibility in editing and changing whenever needed. Audio boards now have presets, which allows you to automatically change equalized setting and volume levels with the click of a button. These are just a few examples of some of the major advances in technology over the years.

Although some equipment has become more user friendly, the smallest shows can still have the biggest problems. Sometimes the projector you’re using will not lock to a particular signal that’s being generated from your computer. Maybe the projection screen has a green tinge and you’d like the colors to better match your powerpoint slides. Perhaps, the audio is so low you can’t hear the presenter or it’s too loud and you have bad feedback. These and other common problems happen everyday. That is where Local 306 A/V comes in.
